Why we love: Logan Square #2

Stats: 2 bed, 2 bath condo

Lexi and Jeff fully embrace all that their neighborhood has to offer: great bars, great streets for walking their pup, Frederick (Fred), and most importantly for them: great parks. These two are runners--like the kind that each have an entire rack strung with medals from all of the 5Ks, half marathons and full marathons they've participated in. Their medals aren't the only impressive thing in their homey, colorful and bright condo!

How long have you lived in your home?
Since May 2013.

Why did you originally move here?
We lived in Wicker Park before and wanted to live somewhere similar, but more affordable. Logan Square was a better fit for us, and it's still walkable to Wicker Park and Bucktown. Plus, we live very close to the 606, which is an added bonus because its construction was announced after we moved in.

How long do you plan to live here?
Five more years, though we might outgrow this place sooner if we have more kids.

What is your favorite part of your home?
We love the floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room, which makes the room super bright. Our building also feels very safe.

What is your least favorite part of your home?
We have literally one tiny drawer in our kitchen, which we didn't think about before we bought the place. Also, because we're on the fourth floor, it gets very windy on our balcony and our furniture gets knocked around.

What is your favorite part of your neighborhood?
We like that it feels very neighborhood-y and safe, with close proximity to everything. There's also something new every time we turn around. We also love the local farmer's market on Sundays

What is your least favorite part of your neighborhood?
The walk to the train is almost one mile, so we wish that was closer. There are also a few empty storefronts that we wish would fill up.

What are you favorite local stores?
Skofflaw for drinks, Go Tavern for cheap beers, Dunlay's on the Square, Boiler Room, Dante's Pizzeria, Ground Control and Gaslight Coffee Roasters

How do you get to work?
Jeff: Works from home!
Lexi: Drive or ride my bike to Ravenswood.

How long is your commute?
20-30 minutes.

Where do you grocery shop?
We head to North and Clybourn and make the rounds at Aldi, Trader Joe's and Whole Foods.

How often do you walk around your neighborhood?
Daily, for dog walks.

Where do you plan to move next?
Hopefully we'll stay in Logan Square.

Are you friends with your neighbors?
We're cordial. The neighborhood is definitely changing. They are now a lot more younger people, but we still have a lot of older people as well.

Does your neighborhood feel safe?
Most of the time.

What is the general vibe of your neighborhood?
Diverse. We have everyone from bike-riding hipsters, to people laying in hammocks in the park, to people selling paleta in the street.

Are some areas of your neighborhood more favorable than others?
We wouldn't move further west than Central Park or south of North Ave.
